Add a arena in which players can fight but dont lose loot or anything?

What ya think?

Only 1 arena, where when you die both players get ejected and noone loses anything.

This isnt a matter of Pre UO:R or not, this is just like adding an event.

I vote against it. PvP is fun because when you kill someone you get their loot. Plus it would split up the few people that do pvp. I think just leave it the way it is.

The idea was just thrown about, it would be cool but thats also why i would have done it in the monster challnage is just so only that whole area is custom =(

Isn't it kinda stupid to go into PvP with an item you can't afford to lose? And if you're PvPing someone just for the fun of it shouldn't they be willing to give you your stuff back/let you loot your own corpse?
I don't see what good it'd do, that's all. I'll be honest, I don't PvP yet because I know I'll probably get pwnd and lose all my stuff, but that's going to change very soon...

If you want to set it up like a n00b PvP place, I guess that'd be okay, though I don't see why a n00b couldn't get together with another noob friend as fight eachother, and just agree to not loot. I've done that. Really, all the arena is doing is forcing players who have already agreed to fight to be nice to eachother- something they could've decided b4hand anyway.

Just my thoughts on teh matter

Part of the fun of PvP is that you can duel others that arent just your friends, and if we dont lose any items, it can enourage more people to bring out the big guns.

Could always have both people who want to fight go into the 2 player arena and not click the stone and just fight.

Whats a good reason not to?

I know I dont PvP much because Im awful at it and Im only competitive with some decent items in my posession, which I hate losing.

I can foresee the flames that will launch my way after this post, but I know I'm awful at PvP, so I dont do it much. The PvP arena is a way for other PvPers to have me as an opponent, or as some see it, another target.

Maybe if it werent too hard to code, a betting stone could be implemented, so that each duelist deposits XXXXgp and the winner leaves the arena with the gold. I can picture it being similar to the lottery stone, except the condition for winning isnt random, but rather being the only living person in the arena.

there is close to no world pvp as it is ... force everyone to join chaos/order and war one another!
if this arena were to be implemented thats where all the pvp would be going on because there is no risk of losing you're stuff. it might be good for some noobs who want to get better at pvp and dont wanna learn the hard way (best way to learn) .

i have never had a hard time with duels.... "hey wanna duel?" "sure, no loot?" "k" *gates to location* and we duel.... simple as that. no need for this ... we do need more tournaments , maybe gm hosted , and more world pvp ... warrrr!

Tampon, I wish it could be the way you describe it, but there are simply too many douchebags with too many accounts with too many macroed dexxer duelists to go by the honor system. If it were that way, Id do it every day, all day as would most of the awful PvPers who wont learn the hard way (though it may be better).

There is a VERY short list of people I would trust to do that, and most of them dont even play on Legacy anymore.

I dare anyone to try to refute that.

And the dueling stone would/could replace constant GM hosted tourneys, if we could:

A) Set the bets, so that we could keep the pot growing for the championship match
B) Set random fights and computer controlled brackets
C) Have some lottery stone "donations" go to dueling pots

Joker I like you and all, you are a nice guy, but seriously dont wimp out and not pvp cause you are afraid of losing your stuff. Dont PVP with your magics and what not if you are that concerned but i am sure you have a gm tailor and a gm smith with which you can replace all of the gear that you lose, if you even lose any. But for christ's sake dont put in some lame [profanity] pvp area for people to duel in. We want to be a PRE-UOR shard, but we keep adding all of this custom [profanity]???? At what point is this going to stop? A lot of people pvp, a lot of people PVM. What are we going to ask for next, an area where we can PVM and make money, but if we die we dont lose anything? For fucks sake come on, a leather suit and a gm halbred or xbow is nothing, especially for you joker, i know you have tons of BANK(money). So just get out there and pvp, and if you dont want to lose a vanq use a gm weapon or something not as valuable(you dont have to use a vanq to dominate in pvp). THIS IS NOT A CAREBEAR FUCKING SERVER.

Also, i am not the greatest fucking pvp'er on the shard, but if you want to duel for "not loot", to practice, or whatever, i am always down, and so is tampon.

I agree with almost everything you said except that adding things like an arena would make it a custom or carebear server. I see it as a way for an event to go down without Sherk having to be there, an obvious benefit.

Once I have a little more time to finish off my fighter, Ill probably go chaos with him.
